Economic Development

As with every rural community, the leaders of the community as well as the residents realize the need for economic growth. Thankfully, Pecos, Texas has a group of forward thinking folks in position to “push the envelope” on developing business and industry – while keeping the ideals of the community at heart.  The Pecos Economic Development Corporation does that for us. All in an effort to allow our area to grow and prosper without losing the true “old west” heritage that has proven to be the foundation of our community.

In a nutshell, the foundation of our area revolved around the ranching industry in the beginning, then, as support industries, the farmers made inroads to becoming an equal share of the economic balance.  The early 20th Century gave birth to the oil and gas industry and remains a major factor in our economy to this day.

Of course, off-shoots of each of the economic engines gave rise to an even more diverse economy.  Even “Play Time” for the local ranchers and their “colorful” nature evolved into our current Tourism trade.  One of the focal points of that aspect is The West of the Pecos Rodeo. Mention Pecos, Texas to a complete stranger in just about any part of the country and they’ll respond with either “Rodeo!” or “… Sweet Cantaloupe!” However we have much more to offer you and your business interests. Come visit us to see and experience for yourself, our people, our community and our incredible atmosphere for growth.

If you would like more information about doing business in Pecos, don’t hesitate to contact the PEDC or any of the civic leaders listed elsewhere on this web site.
